Welcome! Here you are looking for a Bath proposal photographer and I’m so excited for you! I’ve had the honour of capturing a number of surprise wedding proposals in and around Bath. There is nothing like capturing this moment in photos. It is really important there is a good plan and with clear communication between us in advance for the big question to happen at the right time and place! Keeping it all secret and a surprise until the last second is also crucial. I have played various roles in the past, from bird watcher to tourist to ensure I could go unnoticed, other times I have been completely hidden in the undergrowth or behind trees with remote cameras! It is all part of the planing and service I offer to make sure you have the best experience. I am also constantly available in the run up to the event to make sure you are able to contact me if there are last minute changes.
I will always use two top of the range Nikon cameras to make sure I have everything I need in case of any issues. I have long telephoto lenses if I am some distance away or more discrete smaller lenses if I am close range. I also have the ability to capture the proposal with hidden cameras and remote triggers, if the location requires it and I have no hiding spot!
I have two great packages for proposal photography here in Bath. The first package captures the build-up, the proposal and few photos afterwards - generally up to 45mins is perfect. The second option has coverage up to 1hr45 mins where it includes everything in the previous package but also extends the couple photos into a proper shoot session where we can take time to enjoy several locations around Bath. Read more about my approach to how I do the couple photos here.
Both packages include same day editing and delivery of images, because you want to share the big news so you need the great photos as soon as possible!
Proposal Photo Tip 1:
Working out the finer points of how you will actually ask the question matter for photos. For example, if you are walking to a planned spot and the photographer is behind you and you move in front of your partner and go down on one knee, the photographer is left looking at your partner’s back with no view as to what is happening! Little tips to ensure you position yourself side on help to make the image a momentous one.
Proposal Photo Tip 2:
Weather turned for the worse, traffic nightmare, or just need a bit more time? Whatever the reason, it is totally fine to postpone the proposal, we can work out a new plan going forward.
Proposal Photo Tip 3:
I have found that if you go for the longer couple shoot afterwards, it’s a good idea to do this after a gap of at least 30 minutes as when you’ve just got engaged you want to savour that moment and then tell friends and family the amazing news, not go off for photos! You can come back a little later once the surprise has sunk in and you have been able to prepare better for the couple shoot.
